BRANDS STCC WTCC The FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) is an international Touring Car championship sanctioned by the FIA. It has had several different incarnations over the years, including a single season in 1987, a World Touring Car Cup held between 1993 and 1995 and most recently a world championship that has run since 2005. Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) is a touring car racing series based in Sweden , but also with rounds in Norway . They began operating in 1996, heavily influenced by the British Touring Car Championship and the success of BTCC racing on Swedish television. There are also a number of support classes that compete with their races alongside STCC; Radical , the Camaro Cup , Superkart , Pro Superbike, the JTCC and the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia . The final STCC season was in 2010, as the series merged with the Danish Touringcar Championship to form the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship . DOWNLOAD Audi A4 STCC Data Info Update Notes Skins DOWNLOAD Minimalist Sets March 19 was a very special date for the Swedish KMS Motorsport team: On that Wednesday, the race version of the new Audi A4 completed a successful rollout with Fredrik Ekblom at the wheel. “It was a big day for the entire team – particularly however, for those people who worked extremely hard to realise the project,” explained Team Principal Tommy Kristoffersson. Up to last year, KMS Motorsport was successful with the Super Touring version of the Audi A4 quattro in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. A change in regulations left KMS with no other choice than to develop a completely new car for the 2003 season. With support from the Audi Sport Customer Department, a race version of the new Audi A4 complying with the “Super 2000 Touring Car” regulations was developed. Because it is a national project, supported by the Swedish Audi importer, the new A4 race version was provisionally homologated only in Sweden and not however, with the international federation FIA. The advantage for KMS: Cars homologated nationally weigh 40 kilograms less than those cars authorised by the FIA and, for example, compete in the European Touring Car Championship. Benefiting from the weight advantage and building a light car was therefore one of the priorities set during development of the new front wheel drive car. “We reached this target,” said a proud Ronnie Bergström, Technical Director at KMS Motorsport in Arvika, Sweden. For the A4 STCC development, the engineers could exploit the experiences made with the Super Touring Car, but could only incorporate a few complete parts as the body and suspension components of the old and new Audi A4 were completely different. Only the gearbox was used during 1997 and 1998 in the front wheel drive A4 Super Touring. All other components were redesigned, including the four cylinder 260 hp engine that, because of the more limited Super 2000 regulations, differs completely to the STW engine. Furthermore, replacing the four-valve engine as basis unit is the more modern five-valve version. When compared to the previous Super Touring Cars, more restrictive aerodynamic regulations are valid for the Super 2000 Touring Cars. The cars have a homogenous rear wing and less downforce. Nissan R390 GT1 Data Info Update Notes Skins Comments DOWNLOAD Minimalist Sets The Nissan R390 GT1 was a mid-engined super car built in Atsugi, Japan. It was designed primarily to gain a suitable racing entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1997 and 1998. It was built to race under the grand tourer style rules, requiring a homologated road version to be built. Therefore, the R390 was built originally as production road car, then a racing version of the car was developed after. Only two R390 road cars were ever built. One was sold through a private auction, without any record, and the other one is stored at Nissan's Zama facility.[1] The road car was capable of 220 mph, which initially surpassed the Jaguar XJ220 and RUF CTR2 in 1997, but was shortly superseded by the McLaren F1's 241 mph record in 1998. After returning to sports car racing in 1995, Nismo (Nissan Motorsport) had some measure of success with their Skyline GT-R LMs which had competed in the GT1 class. However, these cars were quickly outpaced by the influx of new manufacturers who were using loopholes in the GT regulations to build racing cars that bore little resemblance to their GT1 class competitors. This led to such machines as the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR and Porsche 911 GT1, as well as the development of the McLaren F1 GTR. Nismo's Skyline GT-Rs therefore needed to be replaced with more purpose built machinery. Turning to Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), Nismo began developing a prototype of the R390 GT1, named to follow in the tradition started in the 1960s with Nissan's R380. The first decision for Nismo and TWR was the choice of engine. The previous Skyline GT-R LMs had used the trusted RB26DETT Inline-6 motor, but the design was old for a racing car, employing an iron block which added weight, and had a high center of gravity. Nismo instead chose to resurrect an engine from the Nissan R89C, a racing car from the Group C era. Its engine, the VRH35Z, was a 3.5L V8 which used an aluminium block, as well as having a lower center of gravity and a better ability to be used as a stressed member over the RB26. Thus the engine was upgraded and designated VRH35L, and would produce approximately 641 hp (478 kW) at 6800 rpm. The Nissan 240SX is a sports compact car that was introduced to the North American market by Nissan in 1989 for the 1990 model year. It replaced the outgoing 200SX (S12) model. Most of the 240SXs were equipped with the 2.4-liter inline 4 engine (KA24E from 1989 to 1990 and KA24DE from 1990 to 1998). The KA24E had single overhead cams and the KA24DE had dual overhead cams. Two distinct generations of the 240SX, the S13 (1989–1994) the S14 (1994-1998) were produced, based on the Nissan S platform. The 240SX is closely related to other S platform based vehicles, such as the Japanese-market Silvia and 180SX, and the European-market 200SX. It had a revised front bumper, tail lights, 15-inch wheels and interior. The finished car weighed a total of 1050 kg (2315 lb) making it the lightest Diablo variant ever produced. The body work featured heavy modifications and little was shared with the road car. A very deep chin spoiler and fixed front lamps along with an adjustable rear wing was one of the main changes. The front and rear section of the car were entirely removable to allow easy access to the mechanicals of the car, the wheelbase and length of the car was increased for enhanced performance. At the launch, these wheels received a black painted crest, but you could order them to be any color possible, and even chromed, which was very well accepted in the United States. The black rear spoiler was mounted standard and incorporated an adjustable centerpiece, a function only real enthusiasts would ever use, it became however optionally available to have this spoiler color-coded with the rest of the car or even finished in Carbon Fiber. Between the rear lights, a new black panel was mounted while the lights themselves were also mounted in black surroundings instead of the red ones on the ‘normal’ Diablo. The rear fog light and the reverse light were lowered into the rear bumper and four oval type exhaust pipes were mounted, the engine cover now incorporated two massive air intakes, which looked like the ones used on the Diablo SE30 Jota cars. They pulled air into the V-12 compartment to keep everything cool in there, the front bumper was also redesigned and two new fog lamps were built into it together with new bigger air-intakes. Some reliability problems arose when racing in Europe, mainly due to the grade of fuel allowed. When forced to run on commercially available "pump fuel", with a lower octane rating than the "Avgas" permitted under American rules, engine failures related to detonation became an issue. In modern historic racing, these engines show spectacular reliability due to parts unavailable in the 1960s and better fuel quality than the historically poor petrol supplied by the ACO.
